Project Open Hand and the San Francisco Giants will host the third annual Plate to Plate 5K Run/Walk fundraiser on Sunday, August 30, 2009, at 9 a.m. This is the only fun run in which participants will have the unique opportunity to cross Home Plate at AT&T Park. Free tickets to that day’s 1:05 p.m. baseball game between the San Francisco Giants and the Colorado Rockies will be given to the first 3,000 people who sign up for the event.

Your race registration will include the run/walk across home plate, an event t-shirt, a game ticket for the first 3,000 registrants, and a pre-game festival with live music, food, giveaways, awards ceremony, and kids corner. You must register for the race here: http://www.platetopla...

The RAT Pack has a Group Discount for this event. We will ride in a rented van or bus depending on the number of people who attend the trip. RSVP "yes" if you want to attend. The trip will cost $30 per person, $25/person for 2 or more family members. $80 for a family of four. Your reservation will only be guaranteed once you have paid for the trip.

    HI Gary,
Thanks for your questions. Yes, you can leave your valuables on the bus or van while we are running. If we rent a bus the bus driver will be on the bus, and if we rent a van or vans then we will leave the vans locked while we run. We will leave after the Giants game is over which is estimated to be at 4pm.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Two questions:

    1) Can we leave our valuables on the bus while we're running?
    2) Will th ebus wait until the game is over to depart for home, or is here a set cutoff time for its departure back to Sac?

    •  It was a fun, fun day! We had a fast, carefree ride to and from the race and parked right near the event. These trips are fun for walkers, runners and just spectators. I would recommend it to anyone. Next year we need to have enough to tailgate in the parking lot.

What a fun trip! We couldn't have asked for a better parking place! The run was so much fun and the Giants game a blast. Next year we must tail-gate!!!

This was a very run race, and the Giants baseball game was unbelieveably fun! The van was parked only a few yards away from the race start and finish. This is definetely the best way to travel to an out-of-town race.
    •  The race was so much FUN. We got to the race early and got a great parking space. Getting our race goodie bag and visiting the vendors pre-race was easy. Got to run with the ocean and Bay Bridge as views. Then we ran onto the playing field at AT&T Park and touched home plate. Another visit with the vendors and then watched an exciting game from great seats. The weather was as prefect as the company. Doesn't get much better than that.

Nice trip. Vanpool meant not having to worry about driving the streets of San Francisco. The 5K course was enjoyable, especially crossing home plant at ATT park. The baseball game itself was exciting. It was my first visit to the Giants' home park. Good weather, good friends, good ballpark experience, plus it was Randy Johnson bobblehead day to boot! A fine time!!
