California State Capital (map)
Here is a great way to participate in all the fun without the 20 mile training run! The RAT Pack will be forming several relay teams for the California International Marathon (CIM). Sign up individually or with a friend/s, and we'll place you on a RAT Pack Relay Team. You can walk or run this relay.
The four-person relay race will begin at 7 a.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2011, near the Folsom Dam in Folsom. The scenic 26-mile, 385-yard course runs from Folsom Dam to the State Capitol in Sacramento. Each relay team consists of four runners. The approximate distance of each leg is as follows: #1 - 5.9 miles; #2 - 7.6 miles; #3 - 7.0 miles, #4 - 5.7 miles. The relay is held at the same time and on the same course as the individuals' marathon. Here is a link to the CIM Relay site. There is a limited number of Relay Teams allowed in this race. It is expected that the Relay Team entries will fill long before the November 1, 2011 deadline.
The cost is $55/person (includes bus ticket to finish line) You must pay (on this site) to reserve your spot on the relay team.
I would like to do the relay and looking for one or two people to do it with. I don't mind running two legs of the race. I am not a quick runner and don't care about times. Let me know if this sounds like something you want to do!!
Hey ladies...RSVP today and I'll try to get you on a team. Registration deadline is today!!
Refunds offered if:
Additional notes: Refunds will be made if we miss the deadline for registration only. Once the team is registered there will be no refunds.
Payments you make go to the organizer, not to Meetup. You must make refund requests to the organizer.
I'm interested in participaing in the relay, but I am not a fast runner. I've never done a relay before, so I don't know the ettiquette. Do us slower runners bow out so we don't slow down the time for the others? Or, is time not an issue?
