Hello RAT Pack Runners,

Wow...October was a busy month for races locally and around the world.  Here are some updates and news that I wanted you to know about:

California International Marathon (CIM)

1.  We have space for two more runners on two of our Relay Teams.  They are both for Leg#4 (the last and best segment of the CIM Relay!).

2.  Four women are looking for a Relay Team.  Registration is now closed but they are looking for spots in an existing team or teams.  They are willing to be split up into more than one team.
3.  Let me know if any of you would be interested in volunteering to work at the CIM Expo.  The Expo is Friday Dec 4 (3-7pm), and Saturday, Dec 5 (9am-5 pm).  You can volunteer to work in two hour segments.

CIM Fundraising Opportunity

Run for a Reason – This is an excellent cause to join if you are running the CIM.  If you are already running CIM, why not ask your friends and family to sponsor you and help raise money for local kids?  Run for a Reason’s goal is to raise awareness and financial support for each of the 472 children enrolled in Oak Ridge Elementary School.  This school is located in one of California’s roughest inner-cities and children are in desperate need to academic supplies, school shoes, clothes, and on-going health care.

2.  Video - David Letterman’s Top Ten List for the New York City Marathon.  This is hilarious and features the NYC Marathon winner, Meb Keflezighi presents the Top 10 list.  You may recognize the name, since Meb Keflezighi just one the San Jose Rock and Roll Marathon that we went to last month!

3.  Photo Slideshow of October 2009 Marathon’s around the world.  Beautiful photos from some countries you never even knew had marathons!
4.  Local running races in November, 2009.  Feel good about all your blessings, and run in one of the Thanksgiving Day races that support our local foodbanks.
